'˜I will follow this club '˜til the day I die' - Glenn Loovens bids emotional farewell to Sheffield Wednesday
The Owls defender will leave the club when his current contract runs out and he made his 150th and final appearance as Wednesday hammered Norwich City 5-1 as the curtain came down on the season.
In a clearly choreographed move, Loovens came off just before half time, replaced by Jordan Thorniley, to ensure that the popular Dutchman would receive the send-off he so deserved.

When Loovens joined, the Owls were second bottom. He would then play a crucial role in taking the team to Wembley and on the brink of a return to the Premier League.
This season has been one of disappointment, but Loovens says he will leave with nothing but fond memories.
“It’s sad to go, if you settle somewhere like I have here but that’s the way life goes, that’s the way football goes and I look forward to my next adventure now,” said Loovens.

Unsurprisingly Loovens was able to pick one stand-out memory from his time at a club he was bought to on a free transfer by Dave Jones in 2013.
And most Owls supporters will agree with the 34 year-old former Cardiff City and Celtic defender whole-heartedly
“There are a few games I have fond memories off because we had proper unity with the crowd,” he said.

“You could really feel the unity within the club, not only players, but staff, everyone that works in the club, all the supporters.
“It was something we worked hard on and everything came together those two nights.”
