The city skyline is currently dominated by towering cranes and buildings emerging from the ground.
It is a welcome sight for residents who have been waiting years for their home city to catch up with others such as Leeds and Manchester.

Hide AdPlans include the New Era development, a £65m Chinatown which is rapidly taking shape close to Bramall Lane, on Boston Street.
It will boast studio flats for students, while penthouses will have views of the Sheffield United football pitch
There is also to be a a handful of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, along with an oriental supermarket, and a public square at its heart.
One of the projects set to open this year is St James Retail Park, at Norton.

Hide AdThe £35 million site off the Bochum Parkway is set to open in July.
It will feature retailers including Next, M&S Foodhall, Aldi, TK Maxx, Specsavers, HomeSense, Wilko, Mountain Warehouse, ShoeZone, Card Factory, Greggs and Costa.
Some 250 jobs will be created there.
And perhaps one of the most exciting possibilities is that of a ‘great pier’ which would allow shoppers to watch archaeologists as they excavate the historic Sheffield Castle.
