Diners frozen with their forks aloft, martial artists stuck mid-grapple and shoppers halted as they browse the shelves - these are just some of the striking scenes created by Sheffielders participating in the internet craze.
Even the law has got in on the act, with South Yorkshire Police sharing a video of student officers in the midst of making an arrest during training.

Hide AdFor those unfamiliar with the concept, the mannequin challenge is like a grown-up game of musical statues in which people rigidly hold their stance - often in amusing poses - while someone walks among them filming.
The idea reportedly began life at a US high school but spread like wildfire, with Hillary Clinton, Cristiano Ronaldo and Adele among a plethora of stars to have appeared in films shared on social media.
