Fire brigade were called to packed Endcliffe Park to extinguish 'deliberate' fires last night

Crowds gathered in Endcliffe park yesterday during a heatwave following a loosening of Coronavirus restrictions.
People were allowed to meet in groups up to six, and mix two households, for the first time in months.

Hide AdHowever, revellers have been blasted after a ‘disgusting’ amount of litter was left behind – and now South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have said they even had to attend the park just before 9pm to deal with ‘small fires’.
A spokesperson from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “We were called at 08:50pm last night to Endcliffe Park. Central crews attended. It appears there were a number of small fires which had been started deliberately.
“Crews left just after 10pm. South Yorkshire Police were also in attendance.”
