Double gold for Hallamshire athlete at Yorkshire Champinships
Erin Lobley (Hallamshire) was a double winner, comfortably taking the Under-13s long jump title (4.72) and also winning the shot (8.76).
For good measure she also won silver in the high jump, sharing the same height as the winner and beaten only on “countback”.

That record was held by Doncaster’s Nicole Lannie, moving up this time to the under 15 age group. The talented all-rounder did not contest the high jump but won the shot and hurdles and placed fourth in the long jump. A heptathlete in the making, Lannie has already won the Yorkshire combined events title in her age group.
On the track Hallamshire 10-year-old Ruby Simpson was again outstanding, winning the U13 800 metres in her first season at this age group.
Younger sister of the outstanding Tilly, who did not contest the Yorkshire this year following injury, Ruby has a hard act to follow but was up to the task.

Her time was 2:22.95, very close to the championship record that has stood since 1982. Not surprisingly, it was a personal best for Ruby.
At under 15 level City of Sheffield athletes Samuel Eccles (long jump), Emily Heap (300 metres) and Georgie Woodhead (pole vault) all won titles as did Hallamshire’s Lauren Foletti (javelin).
