Adam Dresser had been arguing with the complainant in her car in Barnsley when he assaulted her, according to a Sheffield Magistrates’ Court hearing on August 27.
Robert Coyne, prosecuting, said: “There was an argument and he has spat in her face and also the defendant has grabbed her by the jaw area and forced her towards him so she was looking at him.

The 27-year-old defendant subsequently started texting the complainant, according to Mr Coyne, despite being on bail for the assault matter with a condition not contact the complainant.
Mr Coyne added the complainant arranged to meet Dresser but his behaviour worsened and he demanded by text that she should drop the accusations against him.
Dresser, of Hall Street, Wombwell, Barnsley, who has previous convictions for damage and assault concerning the same complainant, pleaded guilty to the July assault in Barnsley and to harassment between July and August in Sheffield.

Mr Evans added that after Dresser had spat at his ex-partner she had slapped him and he reacted badly by bruising her arm.
Magistrates adjourned the case until October 9 to consider a probation report. Dresser was released on conditional bail.
