South Yorkshire Police workers sacked for drink driving and theft

During a misconduct hearing in February, it was revealed that a member of staff drove their vehicle to work while over the drink drive limit.
The employee, who has not been named by South Yorkshire Police, subsequently appeared at court and was convicted of the offence.

In another hearing in February, a member of staff was accused of removing Xbox games from an address and taking them home.
In a report on the hearing, South Yorkshire Police said: “The items did not belong to the staff member and they were taken to their home address without a legitimate policing purpose and with the intention of keeping them.
“The staff member failed to record the recovery of the Xbox games and failed to book the items into the police property store.

Hide Ad“The member of staff resigned the day before the misconduct hearing.
“A misconduct panel found the matters were proven and amounted to gross misconduct and that the staff member would have been
dismissed if still serving.”
The Star has previously reported that in February a police officer was sacked for removing items from the police property store’s destruction bin on three occasions, claiming he needed them for training purposes.
