Sheffield murder: Everything we know after man found dead at bottom of flat block

- Paramedics were called to Brimmesfield Close, Arbourthorne, in the early hours of this morning after a 54-year-old man was found slumped on the ground outside a block of flats.
- He was pronounced dead a short time later and the death was reported to South Yorkshire Police at 1.45am.

Hide Ad- The block of flats outside which the man was found has been taped off and is under police guard.
- Officers have carried out house-to-house enquiries in the street and surrounding area looking for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious.
- Witnesses or anyone with information are urged to come forward.
- A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Hide Ad- A post mortem examination on the dead man’s body is due to be carried out later today to establish the cause of death.
- Officers from South Yorkshire Police’s major crime unit are working with detectives to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
- The death is not being linked with any other investigations in the area.
- The incident occurred just a two minute walk from where a 12-year-old boy was shot on Northern Avenue on Sunday, January 12.

Hide Ad- In the wake of the shooting, Arbourthorne has been flooded with police officers investigating the gun attack and working on operations to tackle organised crime.
- Four arrests have been made over the shooting, with 25-year-old Stephen Dunford, of Fellbrigg Road, Arbourthorne, charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
- Two men, both aged 30, arrested last week on suspicion of the same offences have been bailed.
- A 42-year-old woman arrested yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life remains in police custody today
