The dog’s owner, Hayley Bower, of Samuel Close in the city, appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on August 7 to hear the fate of her pet Sasha.
Police had brought the case under the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991, but instead of ordering that Sasha should be destroyed, magistrates instead made an interim destruction order.

These include being walked on a lead at all times by someone aged 16 or over, and being muzzled in public places. Owners must also ensure that Sasha is micro-chipped and neutered.
If these restrictions are not obeyed, police could seize the dog and make a fresh application for the destruction order to be activated.
