Other criminals put behind bars include a dangerous driver, a 'predatory' groomer and a deported cannabis farmer who was caught out within days of returning to the UK.
The eight defendants included in this list have all been sent to serve time at His Majesty's Pleasure, during Sheffield Crown Court hearings held this month.
Some of the defendants were convicted after a trial, while others acknowledged their wrong doing through guilty pleas.
The longest sentence passed down by Sheffield judges was life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 18 years, while the shortest was one of eight months.
9. Jay Williams: Dangerous Sheffield driver went 'wrong way' on roundabout & dual carriageway while trying to escape police
Defendant, Jay Williams, embarked on 15 minutes of bad driving while being pursued by police in ‘wet’ conditions on the evening of Sunday, November 19, 2023, Sheffield Crown Court heard. Judge Rachael Harrison told Williams, formerly of High Green, Sheffield: "You drove the wrong way on a dual carriageway, and on a roundabout…you travelled at high speeds in a low limit residential area.” "You went through red lights on a dual carriageway. Thankfully there were no passengers, and you didn’t crash into anything." She added: "This was an appalling piece of driving, when you were not insured, and didn’t have a driving licence." Court documents show that Williams, aged 39, drove a Skoda Yeti Black vehicle dangerously on several Sheffield roads, including Penistone Road, Herries Road, Wordsworth Avenue, Broad Lane, Hawley Street, Campo Lane, Queen Street, and Paradise Street. Williams pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving at an earlier hearing. Judge Harrison jailed Williams for eight months, and banned him from driving for 16 months.
