Sheffield child ‘abusive and disrespectful’ to call handlers in hoax 999 calls

Parents of the child have been served with a parental advisory letter warning of their child’s behaviour and outlining possible consequences.
South Yorkshire Police described the move as a ‘formal warning’.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, the Sheffield South East Neighbourhood Policing team said: “Yesterday PCSOs from the Manor and Arbourthorne team issued a parental advisory letter to a young person in our area. This formal warning was issued due to them making number hoax 999 calls.
“This individual was abusive and disrespectful to our emergency call handlers. This young person was given strong words of advice in front of their family.
“We explained how dangerous this childish game could be, taking valuable time that we need in order to respond to emergency incidents.”
