Sheffield car wash owners fined for operating through coronavirus lockdown

South Yorkshire Police officers and Sheffield Council officials visited two car washes in the city yesterday, which were found to be operating illegally during the coronavirus lockdown.
Car washes are not deemed to be essential services under Covid rules.

Hide AdSouth Yorkshire Police said: “We went out yesterday with partners from Sheffield Council and issued two businesses with £1,000 fixed penalties for operating under lockdown, despite them previously having been warned this was unlawful.
“We continue to enforce lockdown regulations and businesses operating illegally can expect a visit.”
The Government today announced that South Yorkshire will be subject to Tier 3 rules when the current lockdown ends on December 2.
Different areas of the country all fall within different tiers, with those in Tier 3 subject to the strictest regulations.
