Hide AdNow PETA has offered the financial reward in a bid to help the investigation, which is being led by South Yorkshire Police and the RSPCA.
"It's imperative that any community faced with cruel and callous acts such as this take measures to find the culprit and bring him or her to justice," says PETA Director Elisa Allen. "Animal abusers are a danger to everyone – they take their issues out on whomever is available to them, humans or other animals – and must be caught before they act again."
A statement from PETA explained that history shows that past incidents involving cruelty to animals regularly appear in the records of serial rapists and murderers.
Young killers Mary Bell, Robert Thompson, and Jon Venables as well as serial murderers Ian Huntley, Thomas Hamilton (the Dunblane massacre), Fred West, Dennis Nilsen, Ian Brady, and Raoul Moat all started out by deliberately harming animals.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to call the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
