Police probe into shooting in Sheffield continues as victim is treated in hospital

Emergency services were deployed to Broomhall on Tuesday night after a man was shot in his back and neck.
The 24-year-old was found seriously injured in William Street, where he is believed to have made his way to after being shot near to a recreational area off Upper Hanover street at around 11.30pm.

Hide AdHe was taken to hospital for surgery and remained in a serious condition last night.
Detective Inspector Andy Shields described the shooting as a ‘very disturbing incident’.
He stressed that ‘extensive enquiries’ are being carried out into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
As part of the investigation, homes were raided on William Street and Wharncliffe Road, in Broomhall, in the early hours of yesterday and two men, aged 24 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent.

Sgt Adam Wood, from the Sheffield Central and North West neighbourhood policing team, said: “We know an incident like this causes understandable concern within the local community. I'd like to assure residents in Broomhall we have put measures in place to make sure people feel safe. We are also in direct contact with members of the local community, including elected members, to provide reassurance.”
