Police issue update on Sheffield shooting victim's condition and investigation

He was shot in his chest on Grimesthorpe Road, Burngreave, at around 2.30pm on Thursday (16 April). The culprit or those involved fled the scene.
The injured man was taken to hospital and in a “critical condition”, police said, but his health has since improved.

Hide AdThe police also confirmed no further arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
Detectives are treating the shooting as a ‘targeted attack’, with police patrols in the area stepped up in a bid to reassure residents of their safety.
One witness told The Star shots were fired from a white car towards a black car in the street.
No fewer than seven men were detained at the scene, but were later released with no further action to be taken.

Hide AdTwo men were seen shielding themselves behind the black car as it was fired at. They were then seen pulling an injured man from the car and laying him in a nearby garden.
Detective Inspector Ben Wood, leading the police probe, described the shooting as a ‘distressing incident’.
