Police issue statement on Sheffield murder as woman remains in custody

The 41-year-old suspect was arrested after a woman, 55, was found stabbed at a property in Ravenscroft Place, Richmond, at 10.30pm on Saturday.
Paramedics took the injured woman to hospital but she could not be saved and was pronounced dead an hour later.

Hide AdA 36-year-old man also arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation after being quizzed over the weekend.
Extra police officers have been deployed to Richmond in the wake of the stabbing.
Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Simon Palmer, the senior investigating officer, said: “Our enquiries are taking in a wider geographical area than solely Ravenscroft Place.
“One of the suspects, the 41-year-old woman, was arrested on Nunnery Place, which is over two miles away from where we believe the victim was injured.

Hide Ad“We are currently working to piece together events between the reported stabbing on Ravenscroft Place and the arrest on Nunnery Place.
“I am asking that anyone living in this part of the city considers if they saw anything unusual on Saturday night between 10.30pm and midnight.
“Please check your CCTV or dashcam footage and contact us if you have any information that might help.
“Our officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries, so please do speak to them with any concerns or questions you have.”
