Steve Kent, chairman of the South Yorkshire branch of the Police Federation, said: “As these cases highlight, the individuals who do this are putting officers as well as members of the public at significant risk.
“Please know what your children are doing over these coming evenings.
“We are in lockdown and therefore they should not be out on the streets without good reason anyway and it goes without saying they shouldn’t be messing with fireworks.

“Our officers are hard working and are people who have families at home. They don’t deserve this kind of appalling behaviour towards them.”
Police patrols will be stepped up tonight across South Yorkshire, with Bonfire Night traditionally one of the busiest of the year for emergency services.
Over recent weeks, hundreds of calls have been received by South Yorkshire Police about the misuse of fireworks.
