Police confirm DOG shot dead on Sheffield street as cordons remain in place

Officers were called to Abbeydale Road this morning, Friday, July 24, at around 1.10am to reports that a dog had been shot.
A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Police attended the scene and discovered a dog with injuries consistent with shotgun discharge. No further injuries were reported to us.

She added that the dog sadly had to be put down.
Shocked residents reported being woken by six bangs before hearing three police vehicles with their sirens blaring racing down the road minutes later.
There were two police cordons in place on Abbeydale Road this morning, with part of the road taped off near the junction with Farrar Road, and a section of pavement with a pool of blood sealed off further south.
