A herd of deer caused traffic to build on the M1 in South Yorkshire today when it had to be closed as they got too close to the road.
South Yorkshire Police closed the motorway between Junctions 36 for Tankersley and 37 for Dodworth, near Barnsley, earlier this morning and said officers had been deployed to deal with a ‘highways disruption’.
The force later revealed that a herd of deer had got close to the carriageway.
The M1 has since re-opened.
