Men sprayed 'unknown substance' in Barnsley shopkeeper's face during attempted robbery

It is reported that the men walked up to the counter in the Mini Mart in Goldthorpe and sprayed an unknown substance into the worker’s face before hitting the victim over the head with a bottle at around 6.55pm on Sunday, January 24.
The two men are then said to have left the convenience store empty handed despite the attempted robbery.

Hide AdSouth Yorkshire Police have now released two CCTV images of the alleged robbers in an effort to appeal to the public to help identify them.
Investigating Officer Lauren Fletcher urged witnesses who were in the area last week to get in touch with officers.
She said: “This incident happened at around 6.55pm in the evening and we’re keen to hear from anyone in Goldthorpe who might have seen what happened.
“This was a really upsetting attack on someone who was just doing their day job in a local shop, we’re determined to trace those responsible.

Hide Ad"The shopkeeper, whilst not seriously injured, was left very distressed by what happened.
“As part of our enquiries we’re releasing CCTV images of two men we’d like to speak to in connection with our investigation.
"If you recognise them, or have any information about what happened, please do contact us.”
