Man arrested on Sheffield street after trying to outrun ‘17 officers and police dog’

One witness said she saw no fewer than 17 police officers, nine police cars and one van, as well as a police dog, in the Lupton Road area of Lowedges at around 1.20pm to apprehend the suspect.
South Yorkshire Police said that despite response staff, neighbourhoods staff, a dog, and traffic officers being present, the man still tried to run away.

Hide AdA post on the Sheffield South West neighbourhood policing team Facebook page said: “Bad idea! He was never going to get away.
“In the end it was an officer from the Sharrow team and an officer from the Gleadless team who tackled him to the floor.”
Police confirmed the man was held in custody overnight and police were “working towards getting him charged and remanded to court.”
