But there are parts of Sheffield where you’re much more likely to have your bicycle stolen, as the latest crime statistics show – including one area where there were nearly five bikes stolen for every 1,000 people – more than four times the national average.
Overall, in Sheffield, between March 2022 and February 2023, the latest period for which statistics are available, 0.7 bicycles were reported stolen per 1,000 residents. That’s below the England-wide average of 1.2 and significantly below the figure for several other major cities, including Bristol (3.1), Leeds (1.6) and Liverpool (1.4).
