After spending five years behind the bar at Walkley Beer Co. on South Road in Walkley, Nick Davy is now preparing to open his own place.
Pangolin, which is located on Middlewood Road, Hillsborough, will initially open as an off-licence and customers will be given the option of drinking in when it is safe to do so later in the year.

Hide AdNick is hoping to open Pangolin to customers during the week beginning April 12, when the next set of coronavirus restrictions are provisionally scheduled to be lifted.
“All products including draft beer will be available for drinking on the premises or taking away. We will be offering cask, keg and canned/bottled craft beer along with a small selection of wines, cider and pre-mixed gin and tonics. The beer will be sourced locally, nationally and internationally.
"It will mainly be modern craft beer such as pales, IPAs, stouts, porters and sours. This will be supplemented with classic European beers from Germany and Belgium amongst others,” he said.
Nick added: “He added: “One of the things we are especially excited about is that we've been able to partner with KASK to supply our wines. They're an independent wine bar in Bristol specialising in natural and low intervention wines. So it's an exciting way for us to provide a high quality selection of wines not available elsewhere in Hillsborough.”

Hide AdCustomers can expect to find a hand-picked selection of craft beers brewed as close to home as Neepsend and from as far afield as Canada.
The Sheffield breweries stocked at Pangolin will include Saint Mars of the Desert, Lost Industry and Abbeydale.
Nick will also bring in beer from national firms such as Vault City, Pomona Island, Arbor, Deya as well as international breweries including Collective Arts from Canada and the German Augustiner.
Pangolin joins a number of new hospitality venues that have braved the challenging circumstances of the pandemic to open on Middlewood Road, including restaurant Orange Bird and English-Polish fusion eatery, Molly’s Café and Deli.

Hide AdNick said: “Whilst it's been a risk to start a business that includes drinking on the premises during the pandemic, we definitely believe there is a fantastic opportunity in Hillsborough to be successful.
"Also joining businesses like Molly's Deli, and Orange Bird restaurant in the local area is very exciting. We're particularly optimistic now the potential road map of opening dates has been published and can't wait to welcome customers.”
Nick is currently in the process of putting the finishing touches to Pangolin, and says he is looking forward to joining a long list of fantastic craft beer venues in the city.
"Although obviously Covid has restricted our ways of enjoying a beer, there's still definitely a lot of excitement and Innovation by breweries and venues to keep supplying the fantastic products our industry produces. Hopefully as restrictions lift more venues can reopen and continue the vibrant scene we have here,” said Nick.
