Twenty more coronavirus deaths reported across South Yorkshire in latest figures

Figures released by NHS England show the deaths were recorded in the 24 hours to 4pm on Tuesday, including five in Sheffield.
The deaths took place between 21 October 2020 to 2 February 2021 with the time taken for positive results to be received among the potential factors in a delay between a death happening and being recorded.

Hide AdNHS England said the patients were aged between 30 to 101 years old. All except 21 (aged 46 to 92 years old) had known underlying health conditions.
The data represents the deaths of hospital patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 in the previous 28 days and whose deaths were recorded in the latest reporting period.
In Sheffield, five further deaths were recorded, bringing the city's total to 797. Rotherham’s total rose by three to 519.
In Barnsley, five further deaths increased the total to 529, while in Doncaster, seven further fatalities were recorded to take the tally to 674.

Hide AdSince April 28 2020, NHS England and NHS Improvement also started to report the number of patient deaths where there has been no Covid-19 positive test result but it is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death in the death certification process.
Nationally, a further 707 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 73,619.
