Sheffield's coronavirus death toll edges towards 200 as 329 more patients die in England

As the UK enters its sixth week of lockdown today (Monday, April 27), the latest figures show that Sheffield has 1,928 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 193 hospital patients who tested positive for the disease have died – an increase of eight within a 24 hour reporting period.
Elsewhere in the county, Doncaster has 372 confirmed cases and the town’s death toll is 74. Doncaster has not reported any deaths within the past two days.

Hide AdRotherham has reported 605 cases of the virus and has seen 92 deaths- an increase of three.
While Barnsley has 553 cases and has seen its death toll rise to 63- an increase of one.
This brings the total of deaths throughout the county to 422. The number of confirmed deaths across the entirety of England has now risen by 329 to 18,749.
The figures were provided by Public Health England as part of their daily breakdown.

Hide AdHowever, they could be higher as they do not include deaths that happened in care homes or the community.
Today Boris Johnson urged people not to lose patience with the lockdown, warning that the UK is at the moment ‘of maximum risk’.
Speaking outside No 10 for the first time since recovering from coronavirus, the PM said he ‘refused to throw away the public’s effort and sacrificing’ by lifting restrictions too soon.
