The Percy Pud race was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 6 this year, however, organisers have had to make an incredibly tough decision and cancel the event for 2020.
The popular race often attracts thousands of runners and has been continued for well over two decades with a goal of raising some much needed funds for charity.

The last time the race had to be cancelled was in 2010 when the original date fell victim to the excessive snow which had fallen in Sheffield on the days leading up to the event.
Percy Pud Race Director, Richard Dunk, said: “In view of the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, Steel City Striders have decided to cancel this year’s Percy Pud 10k scheduled for Sunday, 6th December 2020.
"The Percy Pud 10k committee feel strongly that the health and safety of runners, volunteers, supporters, local residents and friends and families, should not be put at risk by holding such a large event at this time.

"This is an event we look forward to hosting year on year, and we are proud of how it has developed into such an iconic event over its 28 year history, plus our achievements as a charity fundraiser.
"We feel that to compromise the quality of the race and disappoint thousands of regular supporters in a vastly reduced race entry is not an option.
"A big thank you to everyone who has supported the event over the years. We hope that you will stand with us and support our decision in these unprecedented times. We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday 5th December 2021.”
