Confirmed UK coronavis deaths reach 40,883 - but total could be 10,000 higher

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) said a further 286 people had died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Monday, up from 40,597 the day before.
However, the government figures do not include all deaths involving Covid-19 across the UK.

Hide AdData compiled by the statistical bodies of each of the home nations show 51,086 people died of either confirmed or suspected Covid-19 across the UK by the end of May.
The DHSC also said in the 24-hour period up to 9am on Tuesday, 102,930 tests were carried out or dispatched, with 1,387 positive results.
Overall, a total of 5,870,506 tests have been carried out and 289,140 cases have been confirmed positive.
