Bullion Craft Chocolate, which creates luxury treats from cocoa beans at its factory in Neepsend, has teamed up with the Government-owned coin supplier to offer a luxury gift box that features three bars of chocolate decorated with 23 carat edible gold leaf.
Chocolate, The Royal Mint said, has been ‘a symbol of luxury and wealth throughout its history’ – and the new range takes this idea ‘one step further’.

The £29.99 gift box includes two bars of milk chocolate and one of dark, each weighing 63 grams with a cocoa content of at least 50 per cent.
“The tasting notes of the fine dark chocolate bar are a gorgeous blend of hazelnut, caramel, and dried fig, for those with a taste for the finer things,” said The Royal Mint.
“If you have a sweeter tooth, then the fine milk chocolate bar with its roasted nuts, butterscotch and vanilla notes is just right for you.”

Hide AdBullion was launched by Max Scotford, from Dronfield, in 2016. Max, 26, trained to be a chef at Sheffield College, where he fell in love with the idea of being a chocolatier. He started a food blog while studying events management at Hallam University, and made chocolate at home as a hobby – researching the ancient Mayans, who valued cocoa beans more than gold, led to the name Bullion.
The firm’s products have since been stocked in Harvey Nichols, were featured in style bible Vogue and have won prizes at the Academy of Chocolate Awards.
The Royal Mint, meanwhile, can trace its history back more than 1,000 years and has its headquarters in South Wales.
